I’ve heard of crappy promotions before, but the Grey Bruce Highlanders Minor Midgets may have bottomed out.
The Minor Midget Highlanders, through Moore Sports Tours, will be embarking for the Czech Republic next March for a lengthy tour that will include a sequence of international hockey games against a variety of countries in close proximity.
While the hockey & tour will be great on any number of levels, the prevailing reality is how to generate funds to get a group of players and parents to the Czech Republic.
As busy as a ” AAA ” team is on the ice, the Highlanders are well in advance in terms of their fundraising.
Last weekend, they were the cleanup crew for the Holstein Rodeo.
They have an ongoing draw for a four-wheeler.
And then………the capper……the Highlander Minor Midgets are selling toilet paper.
Toilet Paper in bulk as a matter of fact.
You can get a 96 roll pack from any member of the Highlanders, and as crazy as it sounds, it’s been highly successful to this point, which actually comes as no surprise to their management team who were sheepishly informed by other organizations how successful the sale of toilet paper has been for their operations and fundraising.
Sure, it might not be the snazziest way to fund a hockey trip to the Czech Republic, but if the sale of toilet paper gets the Grey Bruce Highlander Minor Midgets to the Czech Republic next March, they won’t give a…………..
