With the Marine and Rail Museum’s grand re-opening just a few days away, the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre is holding its first annual general meeting.
The CWHC formed last year and has worked diligently to preserve Owen Sound’s marine, rail and industrial heritage at the former CN train station along 1st Avenue West.
The AGM begins Monday at 7 PM in the Atlantic Room at the Owen Sound Legion (1450 2nd Avenue West).
Richard Thomas, the President of the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre, says the public is invited to attend, as the group will elect a new Board of Directors.
Thomas tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he’ll let his name stand for President.
The Annual General Meeting also coincides with the Marine and Rail Museum’s official summer opening on Saturday (June 28th) at 10:30 AM.
Thomas tells us the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be performed by the Scenic City’s oldest former rail employee, Ted Tizzard.
There will be a tall ship in the harbour — Liana’s Ransom — and outdoor rail displays.
Featuring artifacts, scale models and archival photographs, the Museum will be open daily during the summer months from 10 AM until 5 PM,10 AM — 4PM on Sundays.
Admission is by donation.
