Grey County will show-off local food in Toronto.
Area farmers, with the help of the Grey County Chef’s Forum, will be at Boehmer Restaurant along Ossington Avenue every Saturday between 9 AM and 1 PM.
Linda Reader is an Economic Development Consultant with the Chef’s Forum — and she says Toronto residents will be able to meet the farmers who grow their produce.
She tells us it also gives local farmers access to a larger market.
The first event is scheduled for June 14th.
Reader tells Bayshore Broadcasting News there is an emphasis on “natural, organic and genuine” food, with the goal of making the family farm sustainable by supporting farmers who sell humanely raised livestock and organically grown products.
Boehmer Restaurant is in an up-and-coming foody area.
And Reader says it’s a great way to advertise Grey County to the Toronto area.
Chef Michael Stadtlander, a long-time Grey County resident, brought the idea to Chef Paul Boehmer last summer and the Chef’s Forum has worked to make it a reality.
