The Stanley Cup could be awarded tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York for the 2nd time in 20 years.
In 1994, the Rangers beat Vancouver in the 7th and deciding game of the Championship Series.
If the Stanley Cup is awarded tonight at MSG, it won’t be nearly as sweet for the home crowd.
The Los Angeles Kings, who in somewhat bizarre fashion have weaved their way through the post season, lead the Rangers 3 games to none and could complete the sweep with a win on the road tonight.
Winning on the road has not been an issue for the Kings in the post season.
After falling behind 3-0 to San Jose, the Kings won twice in the Shark Tank to take the opening round.
Next, the Kings opened with a pair of wins at Anaheim, and for good measure won Game 7 of that series at the Duck Pond.
In the Western Final, the Kings won twice in Chicago, including Game 7 in overtime. Now understand, NOBODY beats the Blackhawks at the United Centre.
And Monday, LA won their 8th road game of the post season at MSG, and if they score their 9th tonight against the Rangers, the Stanley Cup returns to California
