The owners of the Westside Bowl building on the Sunset Strip near Owen Sound plan to re-open as a bowling alley again.
As we reported first for you earlier this week, Westside Bowl announced it would be closing due to financial difficulties.
The owners of the building hold the mortgage on the property and foreclosed on it Tuesday.
Michelle James and her husband Clark owned and operated the bowling alley seven years ago, before selling it to its most recent owners.
She says they have taken the alley back and will re-open likely in September once the bowling league season begins.
But first, James says they have some renovations to do and likely some equipment to purchase.
And being out of the Bowling business for seven years, James says she has some homework to do.
James says they will spend the summer analyzing the market and figuring out what will work and what won’t.
As for why the previous owners failed to make it work?
James thinks it has a lot to do with the workforce in Owen Sound, or lack thereof.
She thinks shift work is taking away a lot regular league players.
In a posting on its Facebook page, Westside Bowl said this week that all good things must come to an end.
They said a few mistakes were made after taking over in 2007 and they never recovered from the recession of 2008 in time for the next bowling season.
