Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
The latest induction night for the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame is set for tonight at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
It’s a busy lineup with 11 different segments on the agenda.
There will be 6 athletes, 2 builders, 2 teams & 1 Special Merit inductee welcomed into the Hall this evening.
Alphabetically, the Athletes are Bill Burlington, Blaine Courtney, Jamie Grimoldby, Al Hutchinson, Deborah Killing & Paul Thornley.
It’s interesting that among the athletes there’s almost a split; half are are being recognized for excellence in one sport, while the other half essentially are multi-sport competitors.
The Builders to be inducted tonight are Sharon McKeachnie & Andy van Dolder; McKeachnie known primarily for her involvement in lacrosse, while van Dolder’s influence is seen in almost every pursuit.
The 1987 Bantam & 1989 Junior Bowling Teams will be inducted along with Ted Reid who will be inducted under the Special Merit category.
The Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame has been in operation for more than 3 decades and tonight’s dinner and ceremony promises to be another special night for those involved.
I’m Fred Wallace
