Over the weekend I was at the 3rd annual Van Dolders Home Team Home Show at their location on Highway 26 East.
The 2014 Home Show also launched a special year for the Van Dolder Family & their business.
This marks their 50th year of service, a remarkable business achievement that started essentially from the back of Andy’s truck in 1964 when he was selling a dozen doors for his brother.
In terms of the 50th anniversary celebration for the Van Dolder’s, they have plans in the works for a mid-June function; maybe at the Bayshore, maybe at Cobble Beach, maybe at the shop.
Wherever they have the party, you know it will be done right.
And between Home Shows and the anniversary event, there’s another significant night ahead on May 9th when Andy Van Dolder will be inducted into the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame.
Andy Van Dolder, who was a champion oval racer in the 1970’s, is being inducted as a builder, and deservedly so.
His promotion of the Georgian Cup Snowmobile races where an annual highlight for the city.
Plus his support of lacrosse, hockey, golf and other community activities through the business is well known.
Happy 50th to the Van Dolders, we’ll see you again in May & June & July &………
I’m Fred Wallace
