But make no mistake talk often turns to home and I’m dazzling people in the group with the astounding stories of the Knights of Meaford from year 1.
Imagine a story in which….. a small community gets a high profile hockey club….. The hockey club has to schedule their first 7 games on the road….one night, with the arena unavailable, they store their equipment in the coaches’ garage, only to pick it up the next day for the next game…….
Imagine a story in which…the General Manager of the team makes some significant transactions, none of which are as big as the transaction he makes for himself within the team’s financial structure, and suddenly, finds himself off the web page.
And imagine a story in which…the heroes travel from Meaford to Temiscaming and back and then off to Bobcaygeon on back to back nights, OR, even more incredibly, stumble and lurch into the playoffs and find themselves playing 8 times in 10 days before their season comes to an end.
It’s a great story. And it’s true. But unless you saw or lived it, you’d never believe the true tales of Year 1 for the Knights of Meaford.
