What fabulous start to this Hawaiian vacation.
Sure, we did the Circle Island Tour, saw the ” Illusions of Polynesia Dinner Show “,
but the highlight, without question was the ” Legends in Concert ” performance at Waikiki; Elvis, Buddy Holly & Michael Jackson.
When Michael Jackson did ” Ben “, I LOST IT.
Hawaii of course is the home of the Ironman Triathlon.
There’s plenty of examples daily to indicate the Triathlon is alive and well here. People swimming, running, riding their sport cycles. It’s impressive.
Me ?
Mostly, I’ve just been laying on the beach or sampling the tasty delights of Hawaii.
In fairness, I am gearing up for my third term of participating in the annual Bayshore Race which is set for August 24th.
In 2012, I did a 10 K walk.
Last year, I upped my walk distance and did the Half Marathon.
So inspired by the activity, I pledged that I would return in 2014 and do the Half Marathon again and I vowed two things;
One, I would eclipse my time of a year ago and finish the event in under 3 hours.
And two, I promised myself I wouldn’t be the last one to finish…… I think the Grey County OPP have better things to do than watch my sorry tailbone hobo along the shoreline.
But, we might have a problem.
Last year, my official time was 3 hours 5 minutes & 3 seconds.
BUT, in order to let the cops get back to fighting crime, I decided to run the last 2 kilometres and apparently, in the protocol of the race, that’s a no-no.
So, I’m either going to revise my goals OR cheat earlier in the race.
