Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
My good friend, Whitey & I arrived in Buffalo yesterday to watch the Sabres-Blackhawks game, we’ll stay over til Tuesday when the Sabres are at home again to Nashville and then make our way back for the Attack game Wednesday against Plymouth.
That’s a pretty good week.
Interestingly enough here in Buffalo, there’s not much lamenting from the locals about the announcement last week that the football Bills will be taking a sabbatical from the Bills in Toronto campaign.
In fact, most of the good citizens at the First Niagara Centre last night were willing to wager that was the end of the Toronto experiment, which could be best described as chaotic, maybe even a nightmare.
The games didn’t draw well, the atmosphere at Rogers Centre paled to the tailgate culture of Orchard Park, the visiting team felt as much at home as the Bills and in fairness to the ” faithful ” in Toronto, Buffalo has been am also ran for a decade and a half and by the time they got to Toronto most years they were out of it.
You know I’m not a big NFL guy, but I’m thrilled the project is in hiatus or about to be canned.
Anything to end the the love-fest for all things American by Toronto’s sporting wanna-bes and anything to rid the airwaves of the shameless hype for these brutal matchups is a bonus as I see it.
I’m Fred Wallace
