The last day of February & the first weekend of March presents any number of hockey opportunities for fans from one end of the spectrum to the other.
Of course, with the Olympic Break now completed, NHL fans can get back to watching the greatest team in hockey, the Toronto Maple Leafs; and their never ending crusade to capture the Stanley Cup.
In Senior Hockey, the two WOAA Senior Hockey clubs closest to this desk have huge games tonight.
The three time defending champion Saugeen Shores Winterhawks have a big challenge tonight, heading to Elora to face the Rocks in Game 3 of their North Semifinal.
Elora leads it 2 games to none.
A similar challenge awaits the Durham Thundercats on home ice tonight when they face the Mapleton-Minto 81’s, also trailing 2 games to none in the best of 7.
Game time for both North Semifinals tonight is 8:30 pm.
Meanwhile, it’s a rare Friday night off for the Western Junior C Hockey league.
The Championship series commences this weekend with Games 1 & 2 in Wingham pitting the regular season champion Ironmen against the Walkerton Hawks who were the regular season runnersup
Game 1 is tomorrow night at 8:30. Game 2 is Sunday night at 7 pm
And in the OHL, the Attack play 3 times in 2 & 1/2 days; tonight at London against the surging Knights, tomorrow at home against the Mississauga Steelheads and then Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, it’s the Ottawa 67’s here for the first ever ” Bears In Blue ” Game.
