The Chief of Police in Owen Sound is out with his year-end report, and the 2013 report is highlighted by some unusual statistics.
For instance, Police Chief Bill Sornberger says his officers had to pull their guns out 64 times.
The reason was so officers could ” dispatch of: or kill nuisance raccoons.
Other than that, Sornberger says they are not pulling their guns out that much in Owen Sound.
Officers pulled out their tasers eight times last year, but only used the taser twice.
The Chief says they had three grappling incidents — where officers had to use force.
There were six hand guns taken off the streets and a couple of shotguns.
On the positive side, Chief Sornberger says they had no SIU investigations last year.
And during a joint police ride check, he says they stopped over 22 hundred vehicles without laying any charges for impaired driving.
