Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
The Owen Sound Garb & Gear NorthStars have a tentative schedule for the upcoming Junior B Lacrosse season.
While not ” official “, the schedule is likely going to stand as is, and the initial reaction from viewing it is that the Owen Sound club is going to be very busy.
From front to back, the 20 game regular season for Garb & Gear will run 56 days.
More condensed is the home portion of that schedule.
As has become tadition for the Owen Sound squads, Senior & Junior, they start on the road, in the case of the Junior B NorthStars they’ll have 5 of their first 6 away from home.
The home schedule of 10 games will be conducted in a span of 35 days, so it goes without saying they’ll be busy.
For the Junior NorthStars, the activity level is well underway in terms of recruitment.
In a curiousity, the city is producing good young players; maybe too good, as a handful of Owen Sounders have elevated to Junior A Lacrosse elsewhere over the past several years, leaving the NorthStars lineup less than in perfect condition and leading to a stretch of 3 seasons without making the playoffs.
The talent is here to have not just a playoff qualifier, but a very good team, if the bulk of the players stay.
And if they do play, they’ll certainly be busy.
I’m Fred Wallace
