I got a note this week from the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame Committee.
Nominations are being accepted for induction into the city Sports Hall of Fame.
Nomination applications for athletes, builders and teams can be picked up at city hall and ……….must be submitted before December 31st, 2013
Because I was receiving this note, my intuition was that the volume of applications on file and the number of new applications received likely weren’t high.
If that is the case, let me say 3 things today;
First, the nomination process is relatively easy. You get your application form, you outline the attributes of your nominee, and trust me, it doesn’t have to be more than a page, and then you submit it.
Second, having been to a dozen of these functions they are always special in one way or another. Many times, I think the Induction Night is a bigger rush for the people who submit the nomination than for the inductee.
And finally, have nominated a few people through the years, I can truthfully tell you it’s one of the best feelings you can have, watching your nominee accept a place in the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame.
