Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
The World Series, and the baseball playoffs in general, was terrific.
This is probably the most post season baseball I’ve watched since the early 90’s and to the credit of the sport and the players on the 10 playoff qualifiers, the entertainment value was sky high.
Now keep in mind, I’m a dinosaur as it pertains to baseball, trapped forever in pre-historic times.
I liked the playoffs with 4 teams, circa 1969; Orioles-Twins, Mets-Braves.
I liked afternoon games, especially in the World Series. There was something about dashing home from school to see the late innings and then sharing stories with your dad who listened to the game at work.
I liked playoffs without the d.h.
And I loved 1979, 1980 and 1981 when the Expos were right there, but not quite.
I probably always will, but to the credit of the 2012 Major League Baseball Playoffs; well done.
I’m Fred Wallace
