It’s an active Wednesday in the region.
Naturally, the first competitors out of the gate are the high schoolers with Girls Basketball in the South & Boys Volleyball in the North on the go.
Of note, tomorrow the Bluewater Football playoffs commence with the OSCVI Falcons at West Hill to face the Raiders in one semifinal
The other football semifinal is Friday in Port Elgin where the Saugeen District Royals, who haven’t been scored on all season, host the Grey Highlands Lions.
But back to today……
The Attack host the Barrie Colts tonight in Ontario Hockey league action.
With 6 games head to head on an annual basis, the Barrie-Owen Sound games always have an impact on the respective teams even though they operate in separate conferences.
This is the second of 6 on the season between the Attack & Colts and with Barrie tied for 7th in the East and the Attack tied for 5th in the West, the cross Conference head to head between these teams holds a great deal of significance.
Game time tonight is 7 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre
And finally, we change gears into another sporting season with the launch of the Chesley-Tara Insurance Curling League
Fourteen teams are entered in the league with a true round robin regular season leading to the 2014 championship day.
The games tonight are set for 9 pm at both Owen Sound Blue Water and at the Port Elgin Curling Club.
Of course, Port Elgin will also host Superspiel November 8th to 10th, but that’s an activity to explore next Wednesday
