The expansion Knights of Meaford play their first home game in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League on Thursday night when they host the Lefroy Wave.
The game holds both contemporary and historic significance.
Historically, this will be the first Junior hockey game for a Meaford based club since the Junior C Monarchs played in the late 70’s.
Currently, the game holds big meaning with both Meaford and Lefroy tied for 15th in the 20 team league with five points apiece.
For the Knights, their record of “2-4 and 1” was accumulated on the road as Meaford played their first seven games on the road while the Meaford-St Vincent Community Centre was occupied with other activities.
Knights General Manager Dallyn Telford relates his club was well supported by fans on the road and he expects a big crowd tonight.
Telford admits he’s pleasantly surprised by what the Knights were able to accomplish on the road, and he stresses fans will get good competitive hockey and solid entertainment value at Knights home games.
Game time tonight for the Knights and Lefroy is 7:30 PM
