The National Football League season commences tonight with Baltimore at Denver to meet the Broncos
The Ravens are the reigning Super Bowl Champions after taking the Harbaugh family title back in February with John getting the better of brother Jim & the San Francisco 49’ers.
For many this is the start of life itself, an all consuming 5 month ride on the couch leading to the next Super Bowl and their fabulous TV commercials.
In these parts, while not nearly as grand in scale, there are some significant happenings.
Owen Sound Grey Motors United plays at Collingwood tonight in the York Region Soccer League semifinal at 9 pm at Fisher Field
The winner tonight advances to the league championship game September 15th at the Nottawasaga Inn pitch in Alliston
Meanwhile, in Chepstow this weekend, the Bluewater Fastball League comes to a completion with their annual year end championship.
The opener tonight at 8 pm has the Chepstow Aces facing the Saugeen Thunderbirds.
All 9 teams will be in action tomorrow and will compete through the weekend leading to the Championship Game Sunday afternoon.
