Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
An active month of fastball championships concludes this week on another level as the Owen Sound Men’s Fastball League will crown its 2013 Champion on Wednesday night.
Eight teams started the league playoff concept, which instead of a sequence head to head series, elected to go with a single game double knockout format.
Only 3 teams remain.
Tonight, the Harold Sutherland Construction entry will face Meaford Dooley’s Taxi in a sudden death semifinal at 7 pm at Duncan McLellan Park.
Dooley’s Taxi has taken the long route to the semifinal, losing their first post season match to Harold Sutherland’s then staving off elimination with consecutive victories over the Keady Blaze, the Keady Jets and Ram Promotional.
If Dooley’s wins tonight, avenging the opening round loss, they’ll advance to the Championship matchup Wednesday against the New Orleans Pizza Yellow Jackets.
However, if Harold Sutherlands wins tonight over Meaford, they will get a chance to avenge their only loss of the playoffs at the hands of the Yellow Jackets.
Once again, the Meaford-Sutherlands semifinal game goes tonight at 7 pm at Duncan McLellan Park
I’m Fred Wallace
