The annual Welbeck Wood Expo is gearing for its tenth anniversary!
Festivities got underway Friday morning at the Welbeck Sawmill near Durham.
Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free.
Organizer, Steve Kraus, tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that back in 2003 the Welbeck Wood Expo took over for the Durham Wood Show — which lasted 20 years.
Kraus believes it’s an important community event, providing the pubic a variety of woodworking displays and seminars that wouldn’t otherwise be available.
Some of the classes include “Up-to-date welding procedures for the Hobbyist”, “Router Basics” and “Whittling”.
Kraus expects a solid turnout.
Venders will also attend, showcasing a range of products.
Kraus tells us the Durham Minor Soccer group plays a big role in the event as well, offering up their time to help park cars and cook the food.
Any and all proceeds from the sale of hamburgers and sausages goes towards the minor soccer group.
The Welbeck Wood Expo will continue until Saturday at 5 PM.
