Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
In a busy week with the Dash for Cash, the Dream of Glory, the Chantry Chinook Classic and the pending Canadian Junior Men’s Fastball Championship among other items, we found time to speak with Josh Cassidy.
We called Cassidy upon his return to Canada after competing at the World Paralympic Games in France.
Cassidy, a native of Burgoyne, raced more than a half dozen times including semifinal races over the course of the week, all of which were distance races, the shortest being 800 metres.
That’s active and it’s understandable he was a little spent when we spoke.
Spent physically and spent emotionally, so much so that Cassidy admitted that he seriously considered pulling the chute on the entire meet.
In the end Cassidy persevered, partially to maintain his qualification for funding, and while his results weren’t staggering, he states his emotional juices got caught up in the various races and feels motivated for the year and years ahead with another Paralympics on the horizon
I’m Fred Wallace
