One of the more understated events held annually in Owen Sound is the Masters Lacrosse Tournament, a very large and active weekend with a strong and growing historical connection.
The weekend is known as the Cubby Cruikshank Memorial Tournament, named in honour of Kerry Cruikshank who decades ago was a very significant factor in the lacrosse lives of many of the participants who are now 50 +.
The organizers estimate this weekend, which is the 12th annual edition of the tournament, will feature more than 60 players in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Is there a similar event in any other sport that can make such a claim ?
Furthermore, the proceeds from the weekend go towards the Randy ” Rooster ” McMillen Memorial Fund which creates a financial boost to support youngsters in sport and in lacrosse who may one day be participants in this tournament.
There’s 19 teams playing over 3 days starting Friday night at 7 and running through Sunday afternoon.
The 12th annual Cubby Cruikshank Memorial Masters Tournament- another significant summer event in Owen Sound.
