The Ontario Senior Lacrosse Playoffs commence tomorrow night with the quarterfinal openers on two fronts.
The playoffs will open with Sarnia at Brooklin Friday and with the Owen Sound Quantum Properties NorthStars in Norwood to meet the James Gang Champs.
The NorthStars hit the playoffs on a 2 game win streak, including a 10-6 win over Norwood Saturday night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre
The long held belief is that the playoffs are an entirely different season, regardless of the sport, and the Ontario Senior Lacrosse League might be proof positive.
The existing belief in Owen Sound, and elsewhere around the circuit, I’m sure, is that any of the 6 playoff qualifiers could win the title this year.
From Owen Sound’s perspective, Norwood is first and to beat the James Gang, they’ve got to walk the fine line between playing rugged but avoiding penalties.
Furthermore, for both Owen Sound & Norwood, stamina will be a huge factor with Game 1 tomorrow, Game 2 Saturday night at 7 at the Bayshore and, if needed, Game 3 Sunday afternoon at 4 back in Norwood.
That’s busy !
I’m Fred Wallace
