Saugeen Shores has another full-time doctor coming to the area.
Town CAO Larry Allison informed councillors on Monday that Doctor Heather Gleba will be setting up a family practice about a year from now, after she completes her education.
Allison says her agreement with the town includes a long-term commitment of 10-years including a minimum of four monthly ER shifts.
Allison says with Doctor Robert LeBlanc taking over the practices of Doctors Kirk Hollohan and Dee Brown and the addition of Doctor Gleba next year, it’s hoped the bulk of the current orphan patient list will be addressed by next Fall at the latest.
Meanwhile, Allison says they continue to negotiate with Doctor Mary Melinda Gillies who may set up a practice in Saugeen Shores by this Fall.
Doctor Gillies currently practices in Western Canada.
The services of Doctor Gleba were secured through the efforts of Peggy Zeppieri, a full time physician recruiter for Saugeen Shores and Kincardine, and funded in part by Bruce Power.
