Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
When is a soccer complex not a soccer complex ?
In the case of the Kiwanis Soccer Complex in Owen Sound, the answer would be; this weekend.
The Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse group will take over the complex Saturday and Sunday, essentially turning the soccer pitches into a field lacrosse venue.
There’s a lot of effort involved in this, but make no mistake the huge undertaking stands to be huge for the city.
According to the organizers, more than 50 teams ranging in age divisions from ” Learn To Play ” up to women’s lacrosse will participate and compete over two days.
Furthermore, the weekend will also pay tribute to Jeff Tait, a longtime coach and passionate promoter of Girls Field Lacrosse in Owen Sound.
Fifty teams on Sidewalk Sale Weekend at a converted soccer complex for two days with all kinds of potential for the sport and the city this weekend and for the future.
With this kind of potential, I think the soccer folks will be content to have their facility for 364 days of the year
I’m Fred Wallace
