Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
The Canada Day Weekend is upon us and as we’ve been telling you, the OASA Junior Championship Tournament begins this afternoon and runs through Sunday.
Also upon us is the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
The Draft will be conducted Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and again this year, we’ll be very interested in the results for a handful of Attack players.
The most prominent Attack names, alphabetically, are Chris Bigras and Zach Nastasiuk who are in the Top 15 of North American prospects
Speaking with Bigras last week, he related he’d been interviewed by 29 teams.
I’d like to sit on those. Bigras is a nice kid, a smart kid, and a very good player, but he’s not the most dazzling interview, so we’ll see if that has any bearing on his status.
Nastasiuk, who’s a little more outgoing might be able to parlay a good season and an even better playoff into a high selection.
Kurtis Gabriel ? The Attack believe he’ll be drafted
Kyle Hope ? There’s interest.
Cameron Brace ? I’d draft him if no one else would.
But I’m not an NHL team, so we’ll see how the Attack draft prospects made out in the eyes of the NHL Sunday at New Jersey.
I’m Fred Wallace
