Dionne, a hockey hall of famer, was the special guest of Crimestoppers of Grey Bruce last week at their annual golf tournament at Chippewa Golf Club in Southampton.
Obviously a great in the game of hockey, Dionne was a great guest at the function last Thursday.
He’s got a keen sense of who he is, by that I mean he knows & celebrates the obligation and responsibility he has, not just to his fans, but rather to people, especially those who support community causes.
Listening to Dionne in a brief speech, it was hard to tell whether he’d be happier around Jean Beliveau or the guys in Senior hockey he grew up watching and being around.
The highlight of Dionne’s Southampton junket was an auction for a signed Los Angeles Kings jersey.
Two bidders had pushed the price tag up to $ 1,700 when Dionne stepped in and offered each bidder a jersey if they agreed to pay $ 1,700.
It was a deal. For the bidders. And a great deal for Crimestoppers of Grey Bruce which bypassed $ 9,000 for the half hour auction, thanks to Marcel Dionne
