Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
A couple of years ago, I was convinced that I would be spending time in Saskatoon this summer at the World Under 21 Men’s Fastball Championship.
That’s not going to happen, although I’m not sure how it got derailed.
However, while I’ll be in Ontario this summer, 10 ballplayers from the region or who play ball in this region will be in Saskatchewan at the International Tournament.
Team Ontario held their Selection Camp last weekend in New Dundee and when it was done, 5 members of the Owen Sound Selects, 4 Wiarton Red Devils and shortstop Brydon McCue of the Keady Jets make up more than half of the Ontario lineup.
The Ontario entry will be at Cobourg June 7th to 9th for a primer tournament and then come July head off to Saskatoon for the U21 Championship which runs July 9th to 14th.
Prior to the Saskatoon Tournament, the OASA Junior Championship Tournament will be in Owen Sound, hosted by the Owen Sound Selects, June 28th to 30th.
And in August, the Keady Jets will host the Canadian Junior Championship Tournament also at Duncan McLellan Park.
I’m Fred Wallace
