Owen Sound’s own Kendra Shoemaker made some noise at Toronto’s Canadian Model and Talent Convention.
Shoemaker won “Top Bathing Suit Model” and caught the eye of a number of scouts last week.
Modeling agents from Milan, Spain, Los Angeles and Toronto all took a liking to the young model and scheduled interviews.
Shoemaker, originally from Owen Sound, is a nurse in London and has only been modeling for a short time.
She says modeling allows her to express herself in different ways – from the way she poses to the clothes she wears.
Shoemaker is part of London’s “THE AGENCY” and did an audition for the CMTC in August. One month later she was informed that she would be a part of the event and started training.
She was working with agent Rosemarie Noble, who says her drive is a testament to how quickly she has progressed.
Kendra has an open mind when it comes to modeling. She volunteers in London, which will help her get some exposure.
Her goal for the summer is to get some runway shows in London or Toronto and build some experience.
When it comes to advice, for anyone who shares the same passion, she says there’s a place in modeling for anyone. Although she is, you don’t have to be six feet tall to be a model.
