The first portion of the Major League Baseball season for the Toronto Blue Jays has been a nightmare.
Every positive that was projected for this club either hasn’t materialized or has been hampered in some way, shape or form.
I spoke last week with baseball writer and broadcaster Jeff Blair, who has released a book on the Blue Jays; ” Full Count “, four decades of Blue Jays Baseball.
The book was designed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Joe Carter World Series Home Run, in 1993 that was the zenith of baseball in Toronto.
Since the Carter home run, Toronto has gone from being the model franchise in baseball to a perpetual also ran in the American League East.
So many years, the Blue Jays were out of it by May, very seldom did they contend up to Labour Day.
And even when there was promise, like this year, it came apart faster than you can say ” Full Count ” by Jeff Blair
