After an anxious off season, the pace car hits the track tomorrow night at Hanover Raceway for the 2013 harness racing season.
True, this will be a scaled down season of racing at Hanover, with far fewer dates and far less purse money, but in truth, it beats the alternative that many tracks in the province succumbed to and were forced to close their doors.
While understandably discouraged at the alteration, the management and staff at Hanover without doubt will continue a tradition of good times and good racing.
Most of the regular activities are returning; the nightly draws, the year end Grand Prizes and various other promotions to heighten the enjoyment of the racing.
There’s a solid list of special nights as well, highlighted by the annual ” Dream of Glory ” Night in early August which once again will climax with a terrific display of fireworks.
Sadly, the race season won’t be what it once was at Hanover this season, nor will it be all that it can be, the potential at the Hanover track is staggering.
But as always, the race is the thing, and the first race of the season goes tomorrow night at Hanover Raceway.
See you there.
I’m Fred Wallace
