The Canadian Biathlon Championships commence next week at Whistler Olympic Park in British Columbia.
In truth, not many people pay attention to biathlon, it’s not a profile sport in the country.
However, in these parts, the profile is on the rise thanks to two brothers from Shallow Lake.
David and Isaac Shouldice are students at Peninsula Shores District School in Wiarton and during their March Break they’ll be in competition at the National Biathlon Championships.
The Shouldice Brothers initially were nordic skiers who happened upon some gunfire one day while skiing, observed what was happening, gave it a try and through the years have worked to improve their times and scores in the sport.
David Shouldice goes into the Nationals on a decent run, having scored two Gold medals at a recent North American Cup event in Lake Placid, New York.
When asked to assess his chances at Whistler, David Shouldice admits he’s aiming for a Top 15, if not Top 10 results.
As for his brother, Isaac, like most supportive brothers, David Shouldice has no idea how his brother will fare
The Canadian Biathlon Championships begin March 15th.
