When the phase of the moon is right and the creative juices are flowing, I have to admit, I’m a promotional genius.
Oh sure my schemes and scams almost never come to light, but in my head, if you give me a budget, that is you take the financial risk, I guarantee I can come up with a concept that people will discuss for days and weeks on end.
Here’s my latest……
The Ontario Hockey League Playoffs will commence on Mach 21st, and to my eyes, it looks like it’s a given that one of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series will be the Sudbury Wolves against the Brampton Battalion.
Of course, next year the Battalion will be in North Bay, so my concept is……. why not have the Brampton ” home ” games played at the North Bay Memorial Gardens ?
If I’m the city of North Bay, I’m on the horn right now to Scott Abbott and the Battalion pitching this proposal.
We’ll waive the ice rental fee, we’ll split the concession revenues, we’ll promote the games on our local media in partnership with the hockey club and we’ll split the profits as we all but guarantee your crowd for the games at North Bay, especially in a series against Sudbury, will be double to triple what you’ll get at the Powerade Centre in Brampton.
If I’m the Battalion, I’ve already made a call to the city elders in North Bay inquiring about the possibility of such an arrangement.
Oh sure, it’s probably too late, and the OHL would likely kibosh the scenario, BUT, you’ve got to admit, a Sudbury-Brampton series with the Battalion home games in North Bay is pure genius.
