If you want a study in time management, Reid Simmons might be a good case to follow.
I caught up to Simmonds earlier this week, somewhere between Wiarton and Walkerton were he was getting his driver’s licence
From a hockey standpoint, Simmons is playing his final year in the Highlanders AAA program in the Midget Division, playing for a club that has won 4 of their last 5 league games attempting to chase down second place in the SCTA standings.
He’s also played a half dozen games in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League for the Listowel Cyclones who are running 4th in the standings.
While away on a hockey junket last weekend, Simmons checked the Internet and found that he’d been drafted, in lacrosse, by the Barrie Lakeshores of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League.
So, with the new licence, it’s conceivable that Simmons will drive as he concludes his minor hockey days with the Highlanders, see some Junior Hockey playoff activity with the Cyclones and then head to pre-season training camp sessions with the Lakeshores.
Simmons, who wasn’t stunned that he was drafted by Barrie based on pre-draft indications, relates he’ll be prepared for their training camp and will attempt to make the Lakeshores.
However, if he’s not fully successful, Simmons relates he’d be quite happy to play his rookie season in Junior B Lacrosse with the NorthStars in Owen Sound and be available for call up, when needed, by the Barrie Junior club.
Why not follow a busy winter, with a busy summer
