Shallow Lake plastics manufacturer SPI has been sold.
Eric and Dale Robinson have sold their shares to Wiarton native Fred Thorn.
The Robinson’s have owned the plastic company for over 40 years, and the company has enjoyed international growth under their watch.
Fred Thorn started with the company 20 years ago as a machine operator — and has since become the general manager.
No jobs will be affected with the sale.
Eric Robinson was the past president and says Thorn will be a great replacement.
Robinson notes Thorn has been operating the company behind the scenes for the past several years.
SPI manufactures plastic products for playground and agricultural markets.
SPI also has distribution and manufacturing facilities in the U-S, New Zealand, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and Brazil.
The company started in 1972 manufacturing concrete septic tanks.
