Kincardine councillor Jacqueline Faubert wants to know why gas prices in the municipality are always higher than anywhere else in the region.
The councillor has brought forward a notice of motion calling for an investigation.
Faubert says her notice of motion comes after numerous calls and e-mails from residents complaining about the cost of gas in Kincardine.
She says the community has a right to know why there is such a discrepancy in prices but what they could do about it, she’s not sure.
Faubert says at any given time there is a two-cent a litre to ten-cents a litre difference in gas prices in the municipality, compared to lower prices in other regions.
She says her motion is to formalize that Team Kincardine, the BIA, the Chamber of Commerce and the Penatangore Region Economic Development Corporation, who have huge business interests, would be the appropriate groups to get some answers and possibly come up with some solutions.
Faubert says no one has any answers as to why this discrepancy is happening.
