Collingwood councillors could be in for a long night.
The big topic of conversation at Monday’s meeting is whether Collingwood should host a 300 slot gaming facility.
Following a public meeting last Monday, Councillor Joe Gardhouse put forward a motion that the town let the OLG know it wants to play host and that Collingwood designate 10 per cent of the revenue the town would get to addressing potential health issues.
The Collingwood hospital board would be in charge of allocating and administering the funds.
The OLG has said possible casino revenue could be around 20 million dollars with five percent of that going to the host municipality.
Also at this council meeting, the community group Friends of Collingwood Central Park will make a deputation.
Group spokesperson Doctor Mike Lewin has prepared a summary of recommendations to council including that it ask staff to prepare a report on best practices in municipal good governance.
The group wants it to include clarification of the values and actions of good governance, revise the procurement policy specifically related to sole sourcing and develop a strategic plan with residents on community priorities.
There are nine other recommendations outlined by the group.
The group opposes the way it claims council made a decision on recreation needs without consulting the public.
