Does this make me an ” alarmist ” ?
The Owen Sound Attack have enjoyed one of the best starts to an Ontario Hockey League season in franchise history.
Out of the gate, Owen Sound has gone 8-2-0 & 1 heading to their game tonight at Kitchener.
In their three defeats, they have been outscored by 1 goal, one of those defeats coming in a shootout after holding the lead into the last minute.
It’s not like I’m worried or foresee anything nasty ahead, I just see a trend that needs to be altered.
First of all, 2 of the three defeats have come on home ice by scores of 2-1.
I think you know where I’m going with this……
On the year, the Attack have scored 40 times, actually 38 if you subtract the shootout game winners.
Of those 38 goals, Cameron Brace has 10. more than a quarter of the season total.
Playing on a line of late with Daniel Catenacci who has 6 goals and Gemel Smith who has 4; those 3 account for more than half of the Attack goals this season.
And that’s a trend that cannot continue.
While Brace, Catenacci and Smith have been productive, what’s needed is secondary scoring, in fact 2 more goals from elsewhere, and the Attack might have a perfect record.
I know I’m dreaming on that, but even an ” alarmist ” can dream right ?
