There will be over 200 craft vendors at the Arran-Tara Community Centre this weekend.
Friday is the first of the two day Tara Festival of Crafts.
Now in its 31st year, Committee Member Judy Posthumas says the event has grown to attract more vendors each year.
She says it is a juried show, and there is a committee of 14 women who sift through the applications each year to determine which vendors will be a part of the show.
Posthumas says they try to make sure each vendor offers something unique, and that the crafts are all handmade.
There are vendors who return to the show every year, but this year Posthumas says they’ve added 19 new vendors.
All of the money raised through vendor fees and door admission goes to various groups in the Tara community.
Posthumas says over the past eight years, they’ve been able to donate over 90 thousand dollars — mostly to organizations that help children in some way.
She says they’ve bought jerseys for minor soccer teams, installed lights at the Tara ball diamond, and helped with kindergarten and music programs in the local schools.
They also donate to the school breakfast club and the ambassador program at the Tara Fall Fair.
The Tara Festival of Crafts started out 31 years ago as a one day event run by the local churches.
It is open from 1 PM until 9 PM on Friday, and from 10 AM until 5 PM on Saturday.
There will be hot lunches and baked goods available as well.
