A man and a woman have been arrested after a two week investigation into an escort service in the Owen Sound area.
Police allege a 21 year old Owen Sound woman was operating the service out of a local motel and advertised her services online.
Police also allege the woman recruited another female under the age of 16 to work in the sex trade with her.
The 21 year old has been charged with procuring prostitution and sexual assault and will appear in court on Friday October 12th.
She has been in custody since September 25th.
A 37 year old man from Tara who sought the escort service was arrested Wednesday morning and has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
He has been released from custody and will appear in court on November 15th.
The young person was not charged.
Owen Sound Police Detective Sergeant Mark Kielb says this is the first time this type of case has occurred in the City.
But Kielb doesn’t believe it is a big problem in Owen Sound.
Kielb says they started the investigation after a resident reported a young person was involved in sex acts.
Kielb says their investigation revolved around the young girl.
No names have been released to protect the identity of the young female under the age of 16.
Kielb adds they do not believe more people are involved — but he admits more charges may be laid against the two suspects.
