There may not be an NHL season on the short term horizon, but the Stanley Cup will make an appearance in Owen Sound tomorrow.
Mike Futa the director of amateur scouting for the Stanley Cup Champion L.A. Kings will be showcasing the Cup in the City Hall parking lot from 2 to 4 pm Tuesday afternoon.
Futa, whose career in hockey management gained great traction as General Manager of the Owen Sound Attack, is partnering with the city and the Attack for this special afternoon.
The afternoon will also benefit the local Special Olympics program as there will be a series of fundraising aspects for the day.
You can have your picture taken with the Cup for a donation to Special Olympics plus there are some LA Kings Championship items available for auction.
Also, we’ll have a pair of Kings tickets to auction for a game at Buffalo on February 5th against the Sabres.
Now….if there’s no NHL season, or they revise the schedule and the Kings-Buffalo game is a no-go….I guarantee you that we’ll get you NHL tickets, IF they ever get to playing.
Until then, the Stanley Cup continues to travel and makes its way to Owen Sound City Hall tomorrow.
I’m Fred Wallace
