It was a full house at Meaford Hall as developers presented their plan for Meaford Highlands Resort.
A2A Capital Management is planning to build a multi million dollar four seasons resort at the third line and Highway 26.
As we first told you last month — it would include one thousand homes — condos and detached — along with a 60 room hotel full with a spa, wellness centre and even a golf course.
A quick presentation was given at Thursday’s open house.
Then residents had the opportunity to chat with developers and get all of their questions answered.
There didn’t seem to be a lot of concerns with the development itself.
Some nearby residents were just concerned about staying on their current well water systems when the 380 acres of surrounding land becomes the Highlands Resort.
Shirley Keaveney is the President of the Meaford Chamber of Commerce.
She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the community response so far has been great.
Keaveney says this will do great things for Meaford — increasing the tax base and creating sustainability for things like the arena, hospital and downtown businesses.
Ryan Guetter — the Vice President of Weston Consulting — says the project is still in the early stages and estimating a timeline is premature.
There is no set date for phase one to begin but it will contain over 180 housing units.
Guetter says there are five phases altogether but that could change based on what the market dictates.
He says they had a lot of positive feedback from the community and the main concerns are traffic related.
All plans must still be approved by Meaford Council and it is expect that there will be more community engagement on the development.
