These are exciting times for a trio of Scenic City Soccer teams.
Most significantly, the Owen Sound Grey Motors United will meet Collingwood United Sunday afternoon in the York Region Soccer League’s Premier Division Championship match.
The game will be staged at the Nottawasaga Inn pitch at Alliston with kickoff set for 4 pm.
The Premier Division has been a hotly contested loop all season; Orangeville won the regular season title, Orillia won the Traginitis Cup and now two other entries, Owen Sound & Collingwood play for the playoff title.
Grey Motors finished second in the regular season with a record of 8-6 & 1.
Collingwood was 4th at 4-6 & 3, but they’ve scored back to back clutch victories over Alliston to qualify and then over Orangeville to advance
Head to head, Owen Sound won the season series with Collingwood; 2 games to one. But it matters little come Sunday.
Meanwhile on Saturday in Stratford, the Owen Sound McMillan Auto Sales Stingers will play for the Southwest Region Cup title.
And Sunday afternoon in Owen Sound, the Joe Tomato’s Dynamo will host the Innisfil Greyhounds in a Cup semifinal match in the Simcoe County Senior loop.
Game time Sunday is 1 pm
There’s 3 significant games at 3 different levels for Owen Sound soccer.
