What a busy weekend that was !!!
Everywhere you went, everything place you passed, spoke volumes about what a busy section of the planet this area is.
Most notably, I was at the annual ” Dream of Glory ” Final Saturday night at Hanover Raceway.
On a beautiful, warm evening, the place was packed for the $ 100,000 Final which was won this year by Steve Byron driving ” Summer Indian “, winning the ” Dream of Glory ” in a time of 1-57 & 4.
Harness racing has always faced challenges, none though as daunting as the current environment, so seeing a packed house and a great night of entertainment was heartening, especially to those closest to the sport.
Meanwhile, Sunday night as I made my way back from big time karaoke at Sauble Golf & Country, I was struck by how full the lots were at the various motels in the region.
Then it struck me; the 2012 Canadian Junior Men’s Fastball Championship was about to start, in fact it commenced yesterday and runs all day every day through Sunday at Duncan McLellan Park.
For the city and mostly for the Selects organization, this will be the 6th Canadian Championship Tournament here since the turn of the century, and I hope they’ll be as well supported this week as the ” Dream of Glory ” was Saturday.
