The future of this year’s Wakestock festival in Collingwood might be in jeopardy if the organizers can’t get their homework done on time.
Collingwood town council gave approval to the event only if it gets approval for the fairgrounds as a camping and after-party location. Moving to the fairgrounds is thought to have reduced the vandalism and noise that followed the event in 2010.
On Monday night at Clearview Township Council — the organizers got a dressing down for failing to do the paperwork to get that approval.
It’s the second year in a row the organizers have been tardy, according to a report in the Enterprise Bulletin newspaper.
Councillors in Clearview gave the festival a week to get the paperwork completed.
That’s in spite of changes to the bylaw last year that require submissions a full 30 days before an event.
Organizers also need to make arrangements with Huronia West OPP to get paid-duty officers.
