The Kiwanis Soccer Complex in Owen Sound has been a busy spot this week, in fact, soccer in general has had a busy week.
The Kiwanis facility in Owen Sound has hosted two York Region Soccer league matches and the CWOSSA ” A ” Soccer Championships, all within a 3 days span.
On Tuesday, the Waterford Wolves and the girls from Emmanuel Christian won their respective divisions in the CWOSSA ” A ” Soccer Championship.
Waterford won the Boys title by blanking the Walkerton Raiders. However, Walkerton has gained a berth along with Waterford at the OFSAA Boys Championship next week in Windsor
Emmanuel Christian will compete at the OFSAA ” A ” Girls Championship Tournament in Port Elgin June 7th to 9th.
Walkerton certainly wasn’t the only Bluewater school at a CWOSSA soccer competition this week.
The girls from Chesley were in the Girls ” A ” playdown in Owen Sound, the West Hill Raiders had a terrific showing at the ” AAA ” Boys tournament in Brantford plus, Sacred Heart, OSCVI and Kincardine all had entries yesterday at the CWOSSA ” AA ” in Palmerston.
In Men’s Soccer, the Owen Sound Strikers played Tuesday night at home blanking the Barrie Spirit 1-0 in Division One and last night in the Premier Division, Grey Motors United lost their match 4-0 to the Orangeville Athletic.
That’s a lot of soccer in a variety of levels, very busy considering it’s only June 1st and the heart of the soccer season is really a month away
