Truthfully, it’s still early in the Ontario Lacrosse season, we’re only in Week Four of the 2 & 1/2 month season, but there’s little doubt there’s a pivotal game tonight in Owen Sound.
The Bluewater ProTeam NorthStars will host the Guelph Regals tonight at the JD McArthur Arena in their second head to head meeting of the season.
The NorthStars won their first matchup 13-12 in overtime just 7 days ago at Guelph and tonight they hook up again in Owen Sound in a game that has significance for both teams
The Stars & Regals have identical records of 3 & 4 on the season, respectable enough. But keep in mind they both reside in the MidWest Division and Elora and Orangeville look like they’re capable of running away from the pack, which leaves Owen Sound and Guelph eyeing Wild Card spots at the moment if the post season is to be a reality.
But grabbing a Wild Card spot in the jumbled Western Conference is a battle of survival.
Not only are Owen Sound and Guelph in contention, again early in the season, but so too are Niagara, who beat Owen Sound earlier, along with Welland, Brampton & Windsor.
So at the moment, conceding the top two spots to Elora and Orangeville, it leaves the NorthStars & Guelph in a 6 team rumble for one of two Wild Card positions making tonight’s game a very big matchup for early in the season.
Game time tonight for the Stars & Regals is 8 pm
