The big day has finally arrived, as high school students in Walkerton move into their new school on Tuesday.
Over the weekend and on Monday — staff and construction workers completed the physical move of equipment from the old high school into the new Walkerton District Community School.
The new 115 thousand square foot facility — which cost 21.1 million dollars to build — will house kids from J-K to Grade 12.
There were no classes on Monday, but it will be business as usual for the high school students on Tuesday — just in a new location.
Bluewater Superintendent of Secondary Education Alana Murray says about 450 students will be calling the new facility home this week.
At this point, the phone number remains the same as the Walkerton District Secondary phone number, and Cathy Thomson remains as Principal.
However, there is no decision at this point on who will be the principal of the combined elementary and secondary school this fall.
Paul Robinson is the current principal of the Brant Central and Walkerton Public Schools — and those students move into the new school in September.
