Hanover is getting a Farmers Market.
The Farmers Market will be at the old Hanover Kitchen’s building on 10th Avenue.
Council has approved a zoning change to allow the Farmers and Artisan Market to set up shop in the former factory building.
Chief Building Official Don Tedford says the owner is working hard preparing the building and working with vendors to have the market open this summer.
The Farmers and Artisan Market will include 66 thousand square feet of indoor space and another five thousand square feet of outdoor space.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says the project ties in perfectly with the town’s Strategic Plan.
She feels the market will draw people from around the region and provide local farmers and crafts people a venue to sell their goods.
Maskell adds the retail community in Hanover is also in support of the venture.
Hanover has been without a farmers market for about a decade now.
The previous farmers market was located in the old Sklar Peppler plant, but closed after Durham Furniture took over the warehouse space to house their product.
