Lacrosse season opens today in Ontario at the Junior B level.
The Owen Sound Bluewater ProTeam NorthStars have a tough task on opening night, travelling to Six Nations to face the Rebels in a Game 1 of what is a 260 game league schedule.
The Pre-season word on the NorthStars is that they attracted a lot of bodies, have a strong contingent of senior players and went 2 & 1 in their tournament primer last weekend at Fergus & Elora.
All of these aspects may stand the Junior B NorthStars in good stead as they play their first 5 on the road again this year.
The Junior B Home Opener for Owen Sound will be Saturday May 5th when they host Spartan at the JD McArthur Arena.
Meanwhile, the Quantum Properties Senior NorthStars, like their Junior B counterparts, will play 5 straight on the road beginning next weekend.
The Senior NorthStars will travel to Oakville, Brooklin, Huntsville & then twice to Norwood before coming home for their home opener May 26th against Norwood.
For local lacrosse fans it will be two weeks before the Junior B Stars are at home and for Senior fans, the wait will be more than a month, but the fact of the matter is Lacrosse season in Ontario opens tonight at Six Nations.
